The great temple kali paltan mandir is one of the oldest temple in meerut cantt.Kali paltan mandir is also well known as augharnath mandir.Augharnath mandir is on of the oldest temple of lord "SHIVA"
in meerut .This temple is one of the important landmark of meerut bcause od its historical significance in indian history.

Why Kali Paltan Mandir has Hitorical Significance ?

In olden day, indian soldiers were called black Army "kali paltan" by british ( Angrej ) officers.Indian soldiers use to come to quench their thirst from kuwa's water which was located in kali paltan mandir.During this time ,British officers introduced cartridge of gun in which cow and pig fat is used.Because cartridge seal was removed by tooth.These cartidges are not accepted and used  by hindu  muslims and other soldiers as cow is sacred in hindus religion and pig is not accepted by muslims.This event  with other reasons come as a result of "Pratham Swantantrata Sangram" in 10th may 1857 in meerut. But the british officers said that mutiny of 1857 of indian soldiers with other saveral reasons which are responsible for that.Immortal martyr "Mangal Pandey" started his revolution against britishers (Angrag,virangi,the english) from kali paltan mandir meerut cantt.Many soldiers ,volunteers, freedom strugglers, politicians , etc use to come in kali paltan mandir to share information ,secrets and with each other .
